Bad Decision-making
Before I came to know Christ, decisions were made on a whim with no real thought behind them. I hastily chose whatever was most convenient and usually tried to work myself out of it later, especially if I thought I made a mistake.
“Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.”
Proverbs 19: 2
Better Decision-making
Now things look a bit different. Almost every time I’m confronted with a decision I will bring that choice before the Lord. I compare my choices with what the Word of God instructs, if there is any kind of conflict the answer is no. Only by the guiding of His Spirit am I able to make wise decisions.
A Work in Progress
Unfortunately, there is a downside to my taking time to decide…
There are times that I take too long.
That prolonged period where I’m biding my time turns to procrastination and indecisiveness. That turns into second guessing myself and what God is telling me to do.
Thankfully there is a good balance and Alyssa from Faith Leaps touches on that in her post “The Spiritual Side of Decision Making“. Please make sure you read her post before linking up.
