If there is anything the enemy tries to convince us of when we are in the middle of a spiritual battle is that he has won, that he has the power, and that he somehow reigns. Let’s just expose that lie right there where it stands. The victory is ours because our Lord has already won. He conquered the grave and paid the debt in full.
Satan wants what he cannot have and will never be able to obtain. The victory.
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.”
Romans 8: 35-37 NLT
When the battle is real and the burden and pain of that moment threatens to destroy our hope, we must hold onto the truth of God’s victory. This hope sustains us and emboldens us in our walk. Not only is the victory ours but it’s an overwhelming victory. The enemy doesn’t even stand a chance because it has already been written.
His promise of victory sustains us and emboldens us in our walk Share on X
Promises of Victory
Over and over again throughout God’s word He tells us that He’s fighting for us, that He cares about us, and that He will help us to succeed. The promise of successful walk is built on the premise that we will be obedient to the Lord and trust in Him all the days of our life.
Arrogance in the Victory
Even though we win, that doesn’t mean we get to let our guard down. We keep our armor on and stay alert till the battle is over. We stay vigilant and fight.
Have you ever watched a boxing match on tv or maybe a wrestling match at school when one opponent seems to have sure victory. Then arrogance seems to have it’s way with the soon-to-be winner and they get sloppy and careless? Their arrogance suddenly makes them weak. The underdog ends up taking the victory because the stronger opponent dropped his guard.
The victor thought it would be an easy win.
The same can go for us.
Our knowledge of the victory in the spiritual war can cause us to get careless, and lose the battle.
“For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.”
Psalms 149: 4 NLT
A False Victory
Sometimes the victory will not play out as we expect and we will try to help the Lord by interfering so that it will turn out the way we’d like it to. Soon we come to realize that we’ve made the situation a mess, and God will still have His way. How foolish we can be to think that we can change an outcome and convince ourselves that somehow we know best. The truth is we don’t, He does.
We see this day in and day out with those who choose to disregard God’s word. They pretend that if they follow man’s rules that they will still be able to achieve Heaven as a reward. Sadly, this isn’t the case…
Every person needs Jesus.
Acceptance of Him as Lord over our lives and obedience to His word is an absolute necessity in order to achieve the victory.
“The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the Lord.”
Proverbs 21: 31 NLT
Living in obedience to His word is a necessity in order to achieve the victory Share on X
The Victory is His
It is time to throw out every lie the enemy has ever handed you about being defeated and stand on God’s victory. He alone fights our battles, and in our obedience He helps us to win. The true victor is Jesus and that is where the honor is due. For we are children of God and we win through the blood of Christ!
“For every child of God defeats this evil word, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.”

Hi Natalie
I have enjoyed this series on Spiritual Warfare. My husband and I have been married for almost 31 years and have been in full-time ministry for 19 years. (he is a clergy). Over the past couple year, I felt God was calling me to a clergy ministry, (my husband and myself always worked as a team in ministry, but this was a ministry that broke our team ministry. things were chaos for the entire time. After much spiritual warfare, I gave up this position and we now work as a team in the same ministry again. I worked very hard over the past few years to complete a Bachelor of Theology degree. Now I know, God wants us to continue to work our ministry as a team, not as individuals. it still isn’t easy, Satan still keeps me thinking sometimes that I am a failure and I feel the Bth is worthless…but in times when I go looking for other routes…I feel Chaos again. God may not want us to be separated in our ministry; but, I know God will use me to accomplish great things with the extra learning he has given me. And together with our Lord, we will serve our God.
Thank you for explaining things in a way I can relate to my own journey.
