I imagine that you clicked the link to this post for one of many reasons. One could be that you are curious about who Jesus is. You may want to know Jesus but never were really sure about how to go about doing it. Then you might be a person who isn’t sure what they believe. What makes knowing Jesus as your Lord and Savior so different? What kind of changes can we expect to see? Well friend, there is no better time to find out than now.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus came to die for your sins and mine. He came to bear the cross for us in an ultimate display for His love for us. But who was He and why does this gift mean so much?
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Not only that but He is God incarnate and the very display of how much God loves us. He was born, He lived, and He suffered for us. All the while He remained sinless and perfect so that He would fulfill the Jewish prophecies as the Holy Messiah. He is the Redeemer and the sacrificial Lamb.
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 NLT
It doesn’t say that God had many sons, and it doesn’t say that there is more than one God. There is only one God and He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is the way, the truth, and life. God is also triune, meaning that He is one in three. He is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each one distinct
“I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ So he is the God of the living, not the dead.”
Matthew 22:32 NLT
“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 NLT
Who Jesus is to Me
As a young girl, I grew up in a home that didn’t go to Church. We believed in God but we weren’t quite sure who or what He looked like. We celebrated Easter and Christmas so I know who Jesus was. There were bibles that sat on bookshelves and collected dust. Every now and then I would open up that bible and read the words in bold red type. I wanted to know what kind of mysteries the Bible revealed. I remember it all being gibberish except for the red words.
Those words somehow made sense.
Those words spoke to me.

It was in my formative years that I discovered that there was something happening within that leather bound book and it piqued my interest. When I realized that the red type highlighted the words of Jesus, I knew I wanted to know Him more. I had to know Him more.
And why exactly? What was so different about Him?
He offered peace and He offered rest. He didn’t say that I had to jump through hoops and put on a show. Jesus said I could come to Him exactly how I was and I would be accepted by Him.
That’s pretty groundbreaking for a child. Acceptance was one of the main things I craved.
What Does it mean to know Jesus?
Here is where the complicated suddenly becomes simple.
You may have heard that living for Jesus is difficult, hard to do, impossible…but contrary to public opinion; Life without Jesus is all of these things and then some because it’s hopeless.
With Jesus we have hope. In Him we have faith. In Him we can trust that He will do all that He has promised because as you live for Him you will come to find that He is faithful. So faithful.
You might be reading this right now and be at the end of your rope. Perhaps you are tired of living a lie. The sin has gotten old and you can feel it tearing you down from the inside out.
This message I write is one straight from His heart to yours. He wants to know you. He loves you and He always has.
So how do you come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
How to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior
You can know Jesus today. You can know Him right now.
You can know Jesus today. You can know Him right now. Share on X
What it takes from you is a confession of faith. A surrendering of your heart. An acknowledgment of Him dying on the cross for you and resurrecting three days later. Lastly, it takes you submitting your life to Him by repenting of your sins.
I know it can be a tough pill to swallow but the truth is that we have each fallen short. We are sinful people who cannot attain Heaven by our own efforts. Perhaps you already know this to be true since no matter how hard you try to be good, you fall miserably short. Jesus paid the price on the cross. He shed His blood so that we might live. The choice is ours. Do you choose to live for Him?
“For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.”
2 Corinthians 6:2 NLT
Pray With Me…
If you are ready to make that commitment and declare that Jesus is the Lord of your life then please say this prayer with me:
Heavenly Father,
Today I pray to you and ask you for forgiveness of my sins. I am a broken person and up until today I have been attempting to live my life without you. I want to know you and receive you into my heart as my Lord and Savior.
My life has been lost without you and I believe that you came and lived and later died on the cross for my sins. Wash me clean today Lord, for I believe that you can do as you said. I am a sinner and today I turn from those sins.
Write my name in your book of life and help me to walk a new life with you. Give me the strength and courage to be the salt and light on this earth for the rest of my life and help this seed to grow. Today I am yours Jesus. Today I belong to and believe in you. Fill me with your joy and with your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
If you just prayed this prayer and meant it with all your heart then welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven. Today the angels rejoice!
“In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”
Luke 15:10 NLT
Walk in His Truth
You might be thinking “What next?”
Go and tell someone about the commitment you’ve made today. Tell them about your new life. Tell them about Jesus.
Walk in your newness! You now have the freedom of a relationship with Christ. Learn about Him by purchasing a Bible (I suggest the NLT or NIV version to start out with). Join a body of believers by finding a biblically sound Church. Start conversing with Jesus through prayer.
This is the start to an incredible journey and you will need other believers by your side to encourage you.
If you’ve given your life to Jesus today I’d love to hear from you. Please comment below so that I can email you and pray with you. Walk in the fullness of Christ today my friend. You are a new creation in Christ.
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has a become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT

I seem to need to pray this prayer of confession and submission every time I read it – and can’t seem to move forward and grow into the more mature Christian I feel I should be by now – years later. What am I doing wrong, or what steps am I missing?
Thank you!

Oh sweet sister, can I just tell you that the price has been paid by what Jesus suffered on that cross. Your name is written in the book of life so don’t let the enemy steal away that confidence you have in the Lord. I suggest three things that will help you grow in the Lord, first is find a good Bible-based Church to attend so that you are spiritually fed and so may find other Christians to fellowship with. Secondly, start reading your Bible so that you may be able to discern what is from God and what isn’t by writing the scriptures on your heart. Third is incorporate prayer into your day. Speak to the Lord and let Him know your concerns about growing in Him. Those who seek Him will find Him. I’ll be keeping you in prayer. You’ve inspired me to write a follow up post to this one.

Hi Natalie,
I came across your page and entry after I went down what seems and feels like a rabbit hole.. I’ve been on a journey you can say.. to reconnect with God and know him again. But it seems like the more questions I have the more confused I get. Trying to understand the origins of the Bible and word of God left me with more questions than answers and well, my question is- what version of the Bible is one supposed to follow? From what I’ve found so far it feels discouraging and hopeless since there’s so many versions out there. It makes me feel as if there’s no “one truth” idk how to explain. I’m sorry if this question doesn’t make sense but, I just wanna learn instead of feeling confused.

Dear Seekinglight,
I understand this. I really do. I’ve asked myself this very question. You are absolutely correct, the amount of Bible translations out there can cause us to become dizzy. After doing research, I have found that versions that are closest to the original version are best. The KJV is the closest in my opinion. However, it can be hard to understand because the language is from so long ago. The NKJV is a little easier to read and yet it stays very close to the original. One of my favorites is the NLT which has taken the KJV and the original Greek and Hebrew definitions to make the Bible super easy to understand while staying authentic to the true biblical meaning.
I’m saying a prayer for you now to have a rekindled relationship with the Lord and that you will continually seek Him.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have anymore questions. I’d love to help.
