Do you remember a time when you were passionate about the calling that God had on your life? Each step you took had purpose and meaning. Everything served a bigger purpose by kingdom standards and you just couldn’t wait to get out there and take action. You had passion for your God-given purpose and nothing was going to stop you!
If you are anything like me, you may have started strong and then you allowed yourself to get stuck into a rut. The hum-drum of daily routine lulled your spiritual fervor to sleep and before you know it, months have rolled by where you’ve barely made it through.
How Did We Lose that Eagerness to See our Purpose through?
Believe it or not there are things that led you to this state. Sure there are the day-to-day responsibilities that we all have to plow through but I’m not talking about those. I’m talking about…
Distraction. Defeat. Discouragement.
They are all tactics that the enemy uses to sway you from your purpose and snuff out your light.
How do you get that zeal back? Is there such a thing as reigniting that fire that you had in the beginning?
Yes! Here’s how…
1. Turn Down the Noise
Perhaps the sheer amount of noise that you are allowing to seep into your life is drowning out the still small voice you should be listening to. There will always be opinions, judgments, and advice that you will receive from others that are meant to be helpful, but in all actuality they can hinder you. The reason being that their voice will take precedence over His. Appeasing people’s wishes over God’s commands can place us in a state of confusion and ultimately frustration.
This may mean that you need to stay off of social media for a while. You may have to take a break from the clamor to better understand His direction for you.
Do you need the passion for your purpose rekindled? Take a new grip with tired hands and strengthen your weak knees so that you can stay the course. The Lord will help you. Share on X2. Pray and Seek His Clarity
After you have turned down the noise you will hear God more clearly. Pray about what it is that He has planned for you and guidance to stay on the path He has made.
Seek His face. Don’t be hesitant to lift up every question, every hindrance, and every concern up to Him. Expect the Lord to reveal His will in each one of those areas and how He would like you to proceed. Be expectant with a soul leaned into Jesus, heart open, eyes seeing, and ears listening.
The times that I’ve heard the Lord the most clearly was when I had my Bible opened with a heart expecting to hear from Him through the scriptures within.
Ask Him how He would like you to proceed and instructions on how to do it. He is faithful and will show you what to do.
“Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”
Galatians 5:25 NLT
3. Take Action Towards Your Purpose
This is key. When you’ve heard from the Lord and you now know how to move forward you must do it. That is when that fire is released. The passion reignites and your purpose-driven life is propelled forward.
“That is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I lad my hands on you.”
2 Timothy 1:6 NLT
By the leading of the Holy Spirit you will move in triumphant leaps and bounds because instead of staying in a self-made rut you are living in accordance to His will.
It’s only by His spirit that we are able to do anything.
“Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you. Give your complete attention to these matters. Throw yourself into your tasks so that everyone will see your progress.”
1 Timothy 4:14-15 NLT
There is a Difference Between Passion and Purpose
While I believe you can be passionate about your purpose, I also believe that you can be passionate about something that isn’t your God-given purpose. The two are not interchangeable and should not be mistaken for one another.
Ask yourself these questions:
- Is your life purpose in accordance to His will?
- Do your goals line up with the Word of God?
- Is your passion bringing you closer to Him?
Here is a hint. Your God-given purpose will stretch you and you will receive opposition. Ultimately your purpose should glorify God, not yourself.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart form me you can do nothing.”
John 15:5 NLT
May Your Work Withstand the Fire
It’s with fervency that we move forward knowing that there is a Kingdom reason for our very call. As you call on Heaven for the strength and encouragement you need to fulfill your calling may you also ask that the work you do survives to the end.
That is the prayer for my own work. That my work is not in vain and that hearts are challenged to live for Jesus.
On my computer desktop I have a wallpaper of the following verse to remember to pray before I set out to do as He has called me.
“But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.”
1 Corinthians 3:13-14 NLT
May our work for Jesus endure till the end. May our passion for our purpose be ignited like never before. Lord use us for your glory.

Lonnett Lewis says
Am a 44 year old woman and am experiencing a move of God in my life like never before. Yes, am also experiencing troubles like anyone else, but God is definitely speaking to me. I hear him saying more, more, and more. I have a new desire to save money, own more than I already do, and listen way more than I talk. I’ve never before felt the way I feel about money. I’ve always been a spender without much concern of any out comes. Life has taught me to change my ways, but yet and still something new is happening. Whatever it is am happy about it. I want to save more, I watch my spending more, and I have a more business like mentality. Am ready to own as much as I can . Please continue to pray for me as I pray for all of my sisters in Christ. Women need to be encouraging to each other. I have no problem building my sisters up. This is necessary in kingdom building.

You are in a unique place Lonnett. I’m thanking God that He is bringing you clarity with your financial situation. Could it be that He is having you gain more so that you can give it away as a blessing to someone else? Is He asking you to be faithful with the little, so that you can handle more? Whatever the case may be I’m praying that you are a good steward with what He places in your hands and that He gives you wisdom in how to use it. For we know that our treasure is not here on earth, but in Heaven.
