When Your Mood Needs To Improve
We live in tumultuous times that are riddled with fear and unpredictable in nature. Everywhere we look there are people panicking and running amuck.
How people are reacting undoubtedly shows whether they are choosing to trust in God or not.
Some are relying on their horses and chariots (Isaiah 31:1) and others are trusting that the Lord will provide. In any event, we will each fall into one of the two categories. Perhaps, at times, we will fall into both.
It shouldn’t be news to you that when people are anxious or stressed it generally brings out the worst in them. People can become emotional and irrational. We can be so caught up with what is in front of us that we forget to look up.
Most importantly, we forget that we need to worship.
“I look up to the mountains — does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!”
Psalms 121:1-2 NLT
Those Who Worship in Spirit and Truth
May I take a moment and remind you of Job and the heartbreak he faced as a blameless man. His children were killed and he lost his livelihood in a matter of a day. Yet when he received this news, He fell down and worshiped God instead of blaming Him.
There was also King Jehoshaphat who was terrified of a vast army that had declared war on Jerusalem and Judah. He begged the Lord for guidance, fasted, and prayed. The Lord responded with words of victory and encouragement. HE would do the fighting for them, they simply had to be brave and believe that the Lord would help them. They knelt down and worshiped Him and also headed up the army with singers who praised the Lord as they marched into battle. Their worship caused their enemies to fight amongst themselves and were ultimately defeated just as God had promised.
Worshiping the Lord shifts our perspective from ourselves and our own circumstances so that we may keep a heavenly vision. Our heart cry says, “Lord, I may not understand this but I still TRUST YOU”.
So that brings us to today and how we choose to respond during these unprecedented times. The Lord wants those who will worship Him in Spirit and truth.
So we come to Him wherever we are, with hands lifted high, and with an undivided spirit. We come to Him fully expecting that He will do as He says He will because we trust Him.
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice — the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”
Romans 12: 1 NLT
