We Have Extra Time On Our Hands
Here we are in 2020 and our world has changed. There isn’t a part of society that hasn’t been impacted by this virus and quarantine is one of those things that we are all adapting to.
I have read that the word quarantine actually originates from the Italian word quaranta which means forty. That seems appropriate since we are expected to be in isolation for at least that long. Maybe longer.
Since we find ourselves with extra time, it means that we can use it wisely or we can waste it. Part of using it wisely means making wise choices.
Since we are warned to stay within our homes and practice social distancing it means that we each have to make the best of it and encourage our families to make healthy choices. TV watching can either make a positive impact or contribute to the problem.
Our TV Watching Needs a Filter
Let’s face it. It’s easy to argue that there isn’t much else to do during quarantine but to watch tv, however, that simply isn’t true.
We can read our bible, do a study, organize things in our homes, or go for walks. I have actually ordered some books on Amazon for my daughter and I so that we can catch up on our reading.
In our home the tv doesn’t turn on until the evening time and believe me when I say it is so much more peaceful that way.
As the day shifts to night we like to watch movies as a family. My husband and I make a conscious effort to watch things that are family-oriented and/or faith-based. We do have young adults in the home so sometimes their choice wins out over ours, but they do understand that there is a filter on what we will allow.
My Suggestions For What To Watch
I decided to put together this small list of my all-time favorite Christian movies so that you will have an idea of what to watch while on quarantine. While most of these movies aren’t appropriate for young children, your teens and young adults will surely like them. These are also good movies to watch with your hubby when you have a quiet day or night together.
The movies I am listing below are available on Amazon Prime and other streaming devices. You may also find them on Netflix and/or Redbox. I’ve went ahead and dropped the links to the Amazon pages in case you’d like to rent or purchase on Prime.
I hope you enjoy these titles as much as my family and I have.

Thank you for this list. I would also add Little Boy as a good movie. Also there are lots of good series on the history channel. We watched Grant and the other night and that was eye-opening to this southerner.šAnd many people need to watch the Men who Built America for so much of our history.
Natalie Venegas says
Thank you for the suggestions Cherri. I’ve seen Little Boy and that IS a good one!

There is another wonderful movie about the life of songwriter Rich Mullins called, Ragamuffin. It, too, did not get the recognition it deserved. It is a well-made movie, well-acted, and any Mullins fans will really enjoy it. If you don’t know his music, it is a nice intro to him and his music. Here’s a link to the trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pV6xHHfjBc
You might be able to find a DVD of it on amazon. I borrowed a DVD from the library – back when libraries were open!
